 Latest Park News! Minimize

Last updated: July 3, 2008, 9:43pm

The Park is still CLOSED due to flooding.

Please pay attention to the heavy equipment moving through the parking lot.

As always, Pack it in - Pack it out.  Help us keep YOUR Park clean.  When you are finished enjoying your ride and are loading up, please inspect the area around you and pick up any trash that you see.  Every little bit helps in the appearance of the park.

We have scheduled a work day for Sunday July 20th, 2008.  Give Chris a call if you want to help before the workday.  Check the contact us page for his info.

We have begun the de-watering process, hopefully we can make some serious headway this weekend (July 4th).  There was some pretty extensive tree damage at the park from the storm last Friday evening (100mph winds).  So now we get to deal with clearing trail, cutting trees out of the trail, etc, along with the water.  Hopefully things will calm down and start to dry out so we can get the park open!   Check the Photo Gallery to see how high the water was.  We have uploaded some pictures of the flooded parking lot.

They have asphalted the first layer of the new parking lot and part of the new access trail.  They need to add another layer to the parking lot to bring it to spec (6 inches thick).  Once that's done they will start work on striping the parking lot, and installing fence.  Hopefully it will be done sometime this year.  I will get some pictures of the new parking lot with asphalt and upload them to the gallery.   Check the gallery for the current process.

The Veterans Memorial Bridge (South O Bridge) will be closed for 60 days starting July 21st due to construction.  Access to the park will only be available from highway 92 on the Iowa Side, but access will be available.  They will be installing a culvert on the Iowa side of the bridge and will be working on the 13th and Missouri Ave intersection.  To get to the park from Nebraska you will need to take I-80 to the 24th street exit, go south(right) on 24th street to highway 92 (South O bridge road), and go west (right) to the park.  Turn north (right) into the parking lot.

The existing parking lot has been reduced in size again due to construction, so parking might be tight.

Work on the bridge continues.

This park, YOUR PARK, is maintained by volunteers.

YOU are also a volunteer.

We have a work day every month and we need your help.  Check the calendar of events for workdays.  You do not need to be a member of the RVTR to help YOUR Park be better!
But it would sure be nice
Check the website for more information regarding RVTR.
